University of Michigan Leads the Charge in Cross-Sector Sustainability Collaboration

Event recording filmed and originally published by SBN Detroit.

On April 5th, 2023, University of Michigan President, Dr. Santa Ono, gave compelling remarks at a SBN Detroit event about the urgent threat of climate change. Sustainability and facilitating cross-sector collaboration are among the top priorities for his administration and during his lecture he shared about the programs and initiatives the University is implementing.

Fred and Barbara Erb also felt a sense of urgency to spread and teach sustainability priorities. This was their driving motivator in establishing the Frederick A. and Barbara M. Erb Institute at the University of Michigan. During his speech introducing Dr. Santa Ono, John Erb talked about Fred and Barbara’s passion to drive significant change that would make a difference to future generations and the planet.

After Santa’s speech, Telva McGruder, the chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for General Motors moderated a Q&A session where they discussed their shared sustainability priorities and how Detroit will be a central part of their work.
