Liz Delaney

Learning Director

Liz Delaney is the Learning Director at the Fred and Barbara Erb Family Foundation. She is passionate about helping others achieve their goals by creating space for reflection, active listening, and strategic thinking. In her role, she guides the Foundation in using various types of information, including data, to inform decision-making and improve internal practices. Liz also supports the grantmaking team in advancing grantee learning goals and contributes to foundation-wide capacity-building initiatives.

Before joining the Erb Family Foundation, Liz was the Founder and Principal Consultant of Delaney Data Empowerment, where she partnered with funders and nonprofits to advance data-informed decision-making through evaluation, learning, reporting, and strategy development. Prior to that, she served as the Senior Learning Officer at the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Education with a minor in Physics from Western Michigan University and a Master’s in Social Work from Grand Valley State University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Organizational Analysis at Western Michigan University.

Her work has been published in The Foundation Review, including a book review and a co-authored article titled Engaging Community to Build a Community Dashboard. These contributions reflect her commitment to thoughtful evaluation and inclusive approaches to learning and strategy.

Outside of work, Liz finds joy in spending time with her dogs, experimenting with crockpot recipes and cheese boards, and soaking up peaceful moments outdoors–especially near water or in her gazebo. She’s a devoted aunt who takes great pride in celebrating her nephews’ accomplishments. Liz also enjoys indulging in British procedural audiobooks and the occasional reality TV show. While an avid learner and reader of nonfiction, she looks forward to reading more for pleasure someday soon.
