Jazz Masterclass with Terence Blanchard

Jazz Masterclass with Terence Blanchard

On March 15, 2017, four groups of incredibly talented students trained through the jazz education programs funded by the Foundation enjoyed a jazz masterclass taught by Terence Blanchard, the Fred A. & Barbara M. Erb Jazz Creative Chair at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Several Detroit Public Schools and our nonprofit and foundation colleagues also attended the class, presented at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. The masterclass was followed by an all-star panel on jazz education, expertly facilitated by Mark Stryker, including Terence, Heidi Coates, Sean Dobbins, and Marcus Elliot. The day certainly reinforced for us that Detroit has an amazing jazz history and future! Watch a video of the class here.
