$4.2 Million in Grants June 2017

The grants will: Incorporate green stormwater infrastructure into 1.6 miles of new bike lanes in Capitol Park; bring together a cohort of environmental organizations to augment the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department’s restructured drainage charge program through improved communications and resident support; initiate planning for an artful and collaborative stormwater management demonstration site between the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Michigan Science Center; increase Pewabic Pottery‘s earned revenue by supporting an expansion of its tile studio and commission a sustainability audit of the organization’s environmental impact; provide a challenge grant to allow Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice to raise additional operating funds; and continue integrating sustainability into large-scale initiatives across the city, such as Chandler Park and the Detroit Revitalization Fellows program.
