RecoveryPark Farms

Video by Sam Wolson Photography + Media. The Foundation is supporting RecoveryPark to demonstrate how the city’s first large-scale commercial farming operation can model ecological stewardship and ecological restoration as well as socially equitable and economically beneficial employment practices. The project complements another Erb grant – the Great Lakes Shoreline Cities Green Infrastructure Project – a partnership of DWSD, SEMCOG, Detroit Future City, Lawrence Technological University, LEAP, Greening of Detroit, EPA, and the Erb & Kresge Foundations. Through that project, excess stormwater runoff from DuBois Street will be collected through bioswales and transferred to storage facilities for use to irrigate RecoveryPark’s greenhouses. Additional green infrastructure techniques will be implemented on vacant lots on the city’s Lower East Side.
